Hello, I’m Heather, thanks for visiting 🙂 I’m a local Green councillor for Deptford in Lewisham and a software engineer.

Software Engineering

I’ve worked with a range of object-oriented languages and RDBMS systems. My most recent and best work has been as the Data Officer of Lewisham Green Party during its record-breaking local election campaign.

This role involved:

  • Writing our analysis pipeline for our data from the doorstep.
  • Communicating findings from this with key campaigners in terms they understood.
  • Using optical character recognition and worked with an army of volunteers to rapidly digitise reams of data.
  • Managing our migration to a digital data collection system.
  • Connecting with other volunteers across London to share ideas and code.
  • Serving as general tech-support and an organiser in a rapidly scaling local campaign.

Council Work

I am one of three sitting Green Party councillors in Deptford on Lewisham Council.

I chair the Audit and Risk committee, sit on the Pensions and Investment, and Governance committees. I’m currently Deputy Manager of the Green Group; this would be called Deputy Whip in other parties, but Greens don’t whip. I also have the best job on the council; Champion for Night-time Economy, Hospitality, and Pubs.

  • Every third Sunday of the month – 13.00 to 14.00 at Evelyn Community Centre, 9 Wotton Rd, London SE8 5TQ
